Latest Review for “DJ Advantage”

Famous CD Mixer, Rhonda Shouse, has recently come out with a new compilation of today’s hits (some tracks deserving of the title “hit” and some not so much). What makes this mixed album interesting is the fact that it does not favor one particular genre: it actually has a mix of Rock, R&B, Hip-Hop, and techno remixes to some well-known songs.

The first eight tracks are by-my personal favorite-Disturbed, so the first half of the CD transitions very well. Later songs include the techno remix of “I’m Blue” and some others, like “Shawty is da Shid” and a few of that same genre. Personally I could live without these and it is hard to see how these would transition into other songs like “Monkey Wrench” by the Foo Fighters.

But my personal favorite about Miss Shouse’s mix is the parody tracks that are included, such as Family Guy’s rendition of “Shapoopie” and the notorious Burger King carol that listeners would catch themselves humming for weeks on end (DING! FRIES ARE DONE!).

Some may argue that her choice of hits and her taste in music is questionable, but this is not necessarily a bad thing when making CDs. Rhonda definitely does not limit herself to just Rock or Hip-Hop, but explores other kinds of music and creates a mix that most people would enjoy in clubs or over the radio while people are commuting on the highway.

The only major flaw is an error in which “Monkey Wrench” appears twice on the CD (it too is one of my favorites and it does not bother me too much, but haters be warned), and once again some choices of songs in this mix do not appeal to everyone.

To wrap this all up, this mix is worth picking up and using for playing at bars or clubs, and even for any of the readers that happen to work at a radio station, but it is not genre specific so it won’t be very useful on just Rock stations or just Hip-Hop, so readers be sure that your listeners have broad tastes.
