The Village Cup’n Cakes is one of the best choices to dine in the Van Buren County area. Located in downtown Keosauqua, this little cafe with a friendly staff and clean, smoke-free environment is perfect for a quick brunch. The food of choice by the author, the grilled turkey Panini, was delicious. The choices of side dishes were simple yet agreeable, ranging from salads to potato chips. Since the cafe doubles as a bakery, they had an excellent array of desserts, one of them being the choices of pie.
The blueberry pie was quite tasty, although one should be careful when asking for ice cream on the pie, because they use it quite liberally. Overall, the food was fairly priced (soda, potato chips, a Panini, and blueberry pie with ice cream was a total of nine dollars), and the atmosphere was calm and serene. The only thing that would be disagreeable to the average customer would be the choice of music played by the owners (though that is a matter of personal preference).
To anyone that decides to visit Keosauqua in Southeast Iowa, be sure to stop by Village Cup’n Cakes.
